Mono Monday Plus....The Gathering 6

My entry this week is just a simple color change (and it's late).  I've been shooting RAW for my class.  I love it.  I'm still trying to figure out a lot of stuff, lightroom 2 included. (I have an A right now).  The following picture was used for one of my classes.  I played around with the contrast, went up on the blacks, and softned it a bit.  Then I changed it to black and white.  Again, I played around with tones and contrast.  This is the results....

And on a side note....Gator when you shoot, do you use AP, SP, or manual settings?  I've been playing around with these...required by the class.  I think I like the AP better.  Anyone else have any thoughs on the subject?

  3. i shoot almost exclusively in manual ..when not there i opt for the priority setting as it is almost like the auto setting but also allows you to shoot raw..now for the image after viewing these earlier i can say that your BW conversion is great..the zones stand out well nice shadows and light where they need to be...really well done..simple and classic which works great for a portrait like this

  6. I am like gator, shooting in manual most of the times. When I am on a fast moving trip I will put it in AP, adjusting only the fine settings as I go. On a bright day and with action shots, I will put it in SP. Just to stop the action. Your photo is a good conversion. nice shot.

  7. WOW, that's a fabulous shot Linda, both the color and the conversion. What was your light set up?
    Who is the gorgeous model?

I shoot mainly in Av or Tv, sometimes P and sometimes Manual, depending on what's needed. My camera doesn't really work well on Auto at all. I usually set Exposure Compensation and ISO as
    well..

  9. I like my manual setting best on my digital point and shoot.

She's gorgeous, btw. Great photo of her.

I just got my film back from yesterday and they look great. I can't believe that everything was focused. lol! Even the effects I was trying to get with the light/shade issue worked out. I'm soooo pleased. I think I'll be playing around with film for a bit now.
