Picture Perfect~~~~Urban Decay

Photobucket

Let me begin by saying, NEVER take your daughter on an adventure.  They always have to pee or have something to whine about, which always cuts the adventure short.  I was hoping Morticia could go with me, but she was otherwised engaged.  We're planning on going back together.

When I saw todays theme, I knew where I wanted to go.  There's an old school here...Fletcher Memorial School.  It's been closed for many years.   It's said to be haunted by a teacher that was pushed down the stairs by a student.  There are also reports of a man who hung himself here years ago.

It has become a pasttime for teenagers to visit the old school at night.  They're looking for the ghost.  There have been a few of the young ones in my family that have made this little trip.

The school has been unoccupied since the early 70's.  I think it was built in the early 1900's, but I haven't been able to verify that yet.  It just sits there now...falling apart bit by bit.

  3. Linda great picture and for the life of me I don't know how certain municipalities are so lax with they the zoning clauses. Perhaps it's economic. Which is rather sad. As well as this story about it but the merit here is what not to do, I love the picture and this is some story. I like the picture as it does represent this theme very well. There certainly are some stories within this theme.

  9. Cherie, and eveyone...I would love to have you all explore this place with me. You'll need snake boots...or a very thick boot. Lot's of growth and big snakes, as I was told today. LOL Morticia and I are going to use Gomez truck so we can go all the way around...or a four wheeler if we can find one.

  12. Nope, not this time Rita, but Morticia and I are going to check it out together. There's a lot of growth and the building is falling down in places. I'm going to put up an album of the shots I took. It really is a cool place and we don't even have to worry about being arrested for tresspassing. LOL I called the Sheriff Dept. They gave me a contact number for the guy that's over the place. He gave me permission to go.

  13. Straighten those blinds out and they resemble mine; broken ones at the bottom included. Ha., Like the b/w effect.

  14. Very interesting - I think the B&W adds so much to the picture. In my area they would have had it boarded up and behind high chain link fences to prevent anyone from going in, getting hurt, and filing a lawsuit.

Thanks for stopping by my page.

  18. wonderful! we had a similar rundown one room schoolhouse back home when i was growing up. surrounded by fields of corn and weeds, i always wondered about its former life. now.. suburban spread surrounds it but it was renovated into the entrance of a beautiful home in its new life. thanks for stopping by...

  25. Morticia might have to pee too...and following female tradition, you would have to accompany her to the brush....scary!
    Great photo and story.
