Monochromatic Monday

My cousin's wife Laurie.  I loved this picture of her but, it's blurry.  I should have set the camera on auto but, me being me, I had to keep playing with the apeture and exposure. Anyway, I took the picture, cropped it up.  Changed it to sepia and added the vinegrette feature (I'm sure that's not spelled right but, I'm tired and don't care at the moment).    This is what I finished with.

Picture Perfect~~~Safe

Safe

Free from harm, injury, or risk; untouched or unthreatened by danger or injury; unharmed; unhurt; secure; whole; as, safe from disease; safe from storms; safe from foes.
In the darkest part of the night, when the storms of life begin to drift through our thoughts, what do you reach for........

A hand to pull us through.....

A voice that brings peace.  That calms you, leads you through the storms, to a place within.  A place "safe".

Dear Aunt Shirley

I hear there's some question about my capabilities of getting the coleslaw to the gathering.  You do realize that I'm almost 50 years old. LOL  I have worked in food service for several years now.  And while I won't be making the coleslaw myself, I do supervise the young lady that does.  Just so you feel better, I'll be picking it up that morning and going straight to Society Hill with it.

Now, remember the comment you made about me not growing up until you and Aunt Flora were gone.  Well, that's probably true.  I mean you all did spoil me.  Not with material things but, with a whole lot of love.  So, it's your own fault.  LOL

On a serious note:

I'm am so very thankful for you and Aunt Flora.  Not all have Aunt's like I do.  You both mean the world to me.  I love you both so  much.  I know I'm not the niece you want me to be but, I like to think that I'm a mixture of the both of you.

I know you want me to have a stable home life, which includes a husband and that I wouldn't have to work so much but, I really am happy with my life.  I can be myself.  While my children will always come first, I finally have time for myself.  Time to do things I've always wanted to do.

You and Aunt Flora are blessings in my life.  Always know that.

Your favorite niece....

Monochromatic Monday...

This is a picture I took of Morticia last in Jan. of 2007.  Over exposed.  way to light.  Using picnik, I adjusted the exposure  and  contrast.  Sharpened the picture up a bit.  And, cropped it to take out the distractions in the background.  I got this...

Then, I changed it to black and white.

So there you have it.  Morticia looking out to sea.  Thoughts drifting.  Just my luck, she's hatching another plot to find me a man. LOL

I think MM has turned out to be a great idea.  Thank you Gary.  Already, I've learned a lot.  After last week, I played with adding a bit of color to black and white.  You can see the results here....

Picture Perfect~~~Fragile

 fragile:
a: easily broken or destroyed <a fragile vase> b: constitutionally delicate : lacking in vigor <a fragile child>

Fragile, at the moment, my sanity.

In the picture above, my cousin Morticia.  What is she doing?  Trying to help me break into my car.  I had been to the hospital to visit my daughter.  As I was leaving, I walked to the passenger side to put a vase of flowers in there.  That's when I saw them.  My keys.  Locked inside my car.

I called Morticia, she went by the dry cleaners and got a wire hanger.  Together, we finally got in.  Although, we both decided if we wanted new careers, car thief would not be one of the options.

Can't keep us Southern Gals down.

Monochrome Monday...A day late

Monochrome Monday Is hosted by JGaryhillstudio's.  It's all about editing and the techniques used.  As this is something I need and want to learn more about, I've decided to give it a shot.

The above picture is one I took at the beach in June.

After:

Using picnik, I changed the color to black and white.  Upped the contrast a bit and went down a little on the exposure.  Then cropped it.  The pic is now an odd size. LOL

Picture Perfect~~~Framed

When I saw, this weeks them, this picture came straight to mind.  I took it one Sunday morning, at my cousin, Morticia's, house.  At the time, I was just playing around with the light but, I liked this one.  The Hills of Society, "framed" by Morticia's doorway.

There's a wonderful, big world out there.

This weeks PP is hosted by Tint.  The picture she has posted is amazing.  To see her shot and to learn more about Picture Perfect...click here.
